This is the Greenhouse, our office lunchroom on the 11th floor:

This *was* the view from the Greenhouse balcony, at Broadway and Spring Streets. This photo was taken September 22, 2000:

I was one floor down. The view is almost exactly the same, but framed by a window, and from a little farther to the right. This photo was taken by the person standing next to me at the window:

Then she went upstairs and took this from the same balcony you saw above:

This was two weeks later. The brownish haze near the horizon is the smoke from still-burning fires. The haze above that is the debris in the air:

This photo was taken April 9, 2002:

This is a comparison of the before and after photos. I tried to duplicate the angle of the first one as closely as possible:
